How to Use Wihyu in ChatGPT and Claude Desktop

How to Use Wihyu in ChatGPT and Claude Desktop

The way sales and marketing teams interact with their tools is changing. More and more work happens inside AI assistants — not because the tools are trendy, but because asking a question in plain English is faster than navigating dashboards, applying filters, and exporting CSVs.

Wihyu now supports two ways to bring your account intelligence data directly into your AI workflow: an official Custom GPT for ChatGPT, and an MCP server for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other compatible clients.

Here’s how each works and when to use them.

The ChatGPT Custom GPT

If you use ChatGPT as part of your daily workflow, the Wihyu Custom GPT lets you query your account data without leaving the chat interface.

Setting it up:

  1. Log into your Wihyu account and go to your Profile page.
  2. Generate an API key. It will look like wihyu_ak_ followed by a string of characters. Copy it — it’s shown in full only once.
  3. In the GPT Store, find the official Wihyu GPT and open it.
  4. When prompted, paste your API key. The GPT will confirm the connection.

That’s it. From that point, any conversation in that GPT has access to your Wihyu data.

What you can ask:

  • “Which companies have the highest ICP match score this week?”
  • “Show me SaaS companies in Boston hiring DevOps engineers.”
  • “What are the match reasons for Acme Corp?”
  • “Mark TechFlow Inc. as a good fit.”
  • “Update my ICP settings to focus on companies with 100–500 employees.”

The GPT translates your questions into structured queries against your Wihyu data and returns answers in a readable format. You can ask follow-up questions, filter further, and build a research session the way you’d naturally think about it.

The MCP Server for Claude Desktop (and Others)

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI tools to external data sources. Wihyu’s MCP server works with any client that supports the protocol — Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and others.

If you use Claude Desktop for research or writing tasks, you can add Wihyu as a connected source so Claude has live access to your account data.

Setting it up (Claude Desktop):

  1. Generate a Wihyu API key from your Profile page (same as above).
  2. Open Claude Desktop settings and navigate to the MCP / Tools section.
  3. Add a new connection with the Wihyu MCP endpoint (https://api.wihyu.com/v1/mcp) and your API key.
  4. Save and restart Claude Desktop.

Claude will now list Wihyu as an available tool. In any conversation, Claude can query your account data when it’s relevant to your question.

For Cursor and other clients, the setup is similar — add the MCP endpoint and your API key in the tool’s integration settings. The exact steps vary by client, but the connection details are the same.

What This Changes About Your Workflow

The most immediate benefit is the elimination of context switching. Instead of jumping to a separate tab, logging in, applying filters, and copying data into a document, you stay in your AI assistant and ask.

For a sales manager doing account research before a call: “Tell me about Globex Corporation — are they in our Wihyu data, what’s their ICP score, and what roles are they hiring?”

For a demand gen manager building a campaign list: “Give me the top 20 companies by ICP score that we haven’t contacted yet and are hiring marketing operations roles.”

For a RevOps analyst building a report: “How many new accounts were discovered this month versus last month, and what was the average ICP score?”

These queries would previously require a Wihyu login, multiple filter interactions, and probably an export. With the AI integration, they’re a single question.

A Note on Data Freshness

The data returned by the ChatGPT GPT and the MCP server reflects your live Wihyu account — the same data you’d see in the app dashboard. Weekly data refreshes apply as normal. When you ask about new accounts, you’re seeing the latest available data.

Feedback you record via the AI integration (marking companies as good/not a fit, adding comments) flows back into your Wihyu account and influences future ICP scoring recommendations — the same as if you’d recorded it in the app directly.

Getting Access

Both the ChatGPT Custom GPT and the MCP server are available to all Wihyu subscribers. You’ll need an API key, which you can generate from your Profile page in the app. If you have questions about setup, contact us and we’ll walk you through it.

The goal is simple: your Wihyu data should be available wherever you already work. If that’s a dashboard, great. If it’s an AI assistant, that works too.
